The Bank of Hindman opened for business in Hindman, Kentucky on October 3, 1903. The Bank of Hindman remained open during the Great Depression and has grown to become a $150 million financial institution. The Bank of Hindman remains locally owned and committed to serving the needs of our community. Our goals are to serve the needs of our customers and to enhance the development of our community. The Bank of Hindman tradition of commitment continues to live in our second century of existence.
The building the bank is in today is essentially the same building it has been in since 1903; although there have been several extensive renovations during the time period. The last major renovation occurred in 1990 and the interior and exterior both, as well as the general layout of the bank, was drastically altered. In 1983 a branch bank was built in the county's only shopping center, Holly Hills Shopping Center. My first bank account I ever opened was my checking account at Bank of Hindman. Some of my
family members bank there and so I thought it would be a good fit for me as well. I always
receive great customer service every time I go to this bank. The attendants are very
knowledgeable and always willing to help with any problems that I have. When I go through
the drive- thru to cash a check the lady who is working the drive- thru always greets me
with a friendly good morning/good evening/ or hello. That’s one thing I always liked
about this bank, is that they are always very friendly and make me feel like a valued
customer. If I had to pick out anything that I don’t like about this bank it is that
they have very few locations. They only have two banks around the place where I live, and
if I travel they do not have a bank that I can go to without accruing fees from withdrawal
or inquiry of my account. Overall I would recommend this bank for anyone in the area and
anyone who doesn’t travel away a lot. This bank is definitely the best bank in the area,
they just need to expand.
