Hi – I am so sorry that you had to have surgery and that your life has been impacted negatively by it. David, who is answering below, is exactly right about disability and your work paycheck. However, I wonder if you might mean Social Security disability in your question. If so, you may qualify for that. You can start the Social Security disability process on line at https://www.socialsecurity.gov/disabilityssi/apply.html. I don’t know how the Social Security disability process works or what kinds of disabilities and impediments the Social Security administration considers to be prohibitive for not being able to work. However, it is worth applying if you are indeed unable to work. Again, I am sorry you are not well, and I hope for the best for you. Thank you for writing.
You wont get a paycheck per say, but if you had disability insurance coverage, you would need to go to your carrier and find out how much coverage you have and when it kicks in, as well as if your situation qualifies. If you are entitled coverage, the disability company would send you checks, and if you paid the premium there should be no paycheck withholding on it.
