Assuming you are asking in the context of purchasing a home, then yes, a home inspection would be advisable since a professional will have the training and experience to identify potential issues with the home that a layperson would not see.

If you are planning to sell a home it is also not a bad idea to get a home inspection so you can know in advance what the buyer's inspector is likely to find and address those issues which would minimize what the home inspector would find thus giving your buyer more confidence in the decision to purchase.
