If you have enough funds, the most likely reason why your Direct Express® Prepaid Debit Mastercard® is not working is due to fraudulent or suspicious transactions on your card. When Direct Express detects that there have been suspicious transactions on your debit card, they may temporarily block all new transactions on the card until they speak with you to determine what is going on with the card. You will have to call them and answer questions about activity on the card before they will unblock it.
The other possible reason why your Direct Express Card is not working is when the card is expired. You can verify this by looking at the expiration date written on the front of the card, which is usually a two-digit month and a two-digit year. If your card has expired, you need to call customer service and get a replacement card mailed to you.
