The main difference between loading $1,000 per month on your GreenDot prepaid debit card and not is the $5.95 monthly fee. Keep in mind also that you do not have to use direct deposit in order to load the $1000 and avoid the monthly fee, you can use any method to load that money.

You can get a Green Dot Prepaid Card’s monthly fee waived by loading $1,000 or more to your card via direct deposit each billing period. The direct deposit must be from an employer or benefits provider, because a person-to-person transfer is not considered a “load” for the purpose of waiving the monthly fee.

Your first monthly fee will be assessed when your card is initially loaded with funds, and subsequent monthly fees will be assessed on the same day each month. If you meet the requirements for a fee waiver, no fee will be charged to your card.
