The best (and only) 6% cash back credit card is Amex Blue Cash Preferred, which offers 6% back at U.S. supermarkets. As you can see, not all purchases qualify for that 6% rate. Gas station and some department store purchases get 3%, while all other purchases get 1%. And although Amex Blue Cash Preferred is the only 6% cash back card currently available, there are plenty of other attractive offers to consider. Some even give you more than 6% cash back, at least on certain purchases or for a limited amount of time.
Here are the best 6%+ cash back credit cards:
- Amex Blue Cash Preferred: 6% cash back on your first $6,000 per year in U.S. grocery store purchases, unlimited 3% at U.S. gas stations and select department stores, and unlimited 1% on everything else. $200 statement credit for spending $1,000 in the first 3 months. $95 annual fee. Less overseas acceptance than Visa and Mastercard. Requires good credit.
- Chase Freedom Unlimited: $150 bonus after spending $500 in the first 3 months (30% cash back). Unlimited 1.5% cash back on all purchases. No annual fee. Requires excellent credit.
- Amazon Store Card: 5% cash back on Amazon purchases when you have a Prime account. Can only be used at Amazon. No annual fee. Requires fair credit.
- NFL Extra Points Credit Card: 10,000 bonus points for spending $500 in the first 90 days (20% cash back). 20% off NFLShop.com purchases. 2 points per $1 on NFL and Team Purchases. 1 point per $1 on everything else.
So even if you don’t get an always 6% cash back credit card, you can still get some excellent cash back value elsewhere.

6% isn't that common. My Blue Cash has it, but I honestly use my Amazon for more shopping.

The only one is the Blue Cash from Amex, but you only get 6% at purchases from U.S. supermarkets, and only for the first $6,000 you spend each year. After that, it drops to 1%.
