Purchases made prior to 2/28/18 are still covered by the old Discover extended warranty program, which added one year to the existing manufacturer warranty on eligible products. To file a claim, call 1 (800) 347-0213.
The best remaining Discover card benefits are no annual fees and no foreign transaction fees on any of their cards. Discover also allows you to freeze your account on demand, which prevents new charges from being placed on the card if it’s been lost or stolen. Discover also has a “Cashback Match” feature where they will match all of the rewards you earn in your first year.
Finally, if you want a credit card with a great extended warranty benefit more than you want a Discover card, consider Chase Sapphire Reserve and Blue Cash Everyday from American Express. They have top notch rewards and really know how to extend a warranty.
