The American Express Blue rental car insurance provides coverage for the first 30 days of a vehicle rental. It covers damage/loss caused by collision or theft of the vehicle you are renting (CDW).
The coverage is secondary, meaning that any accident that occurs with the rental car will need to be reported to the driver's primary insurance (for their personally-owned vehicle). Primary car rental insurance is available for any American Express cardholder, but only through the Premium Car Rental Protection program.
The policy does not cover some vehicles, e.g. off-road vehicles, limousines, and antique cars. It provides collision damage to the rented vehicle but does not cover such things as damages to other vehicles or property.
