The American Express Global Entry benefit is a statement credit for the $100 application fee charged by the Global Entry program, which expedites travelers through U.S. Customs and Border Protection. Eligible cardholders must pay the application fee with their card, and they can get this Amex Global Entry credit once every 4 years. Keep in mind that there are only a few cards with the American Express Global Entry perk.
Notable American Express Credit Cards With the Global Entry Benefit
On all eligible cards the Global Entry benefit is also available to all additional card members.
Choosing Between Global Entry and TSA PreCheck
It’s also worth pointing out that the Amex Global Entry benefit can instead be used for TSA PreCheck, which expedites people through TSA, if you’d prefer. The TSA credit is $85 and cardholders can get it every 4.5 years. It’s probably better to go for the Global Entry membership, though, because Global Entry includes TSA PreCheck benefits.
With either choice, the Amex credit should show up in your account 6 to 8 weeks after the fee gets charged. It doesn’t matter whether you’re accepted or denied – the credit will still apply.
