No, the Amex Gold card does not offer lounge access. Unlike the Amex Gold card, The Platinum Card® from American Express has a true airport lounge benefit as one of its standard perks.

When to Prioritize Lounge Access

Though the Amex Gold card does not have a traditional lounge access benefit, it’s also a lot cheaper than most cards that offer this benefit. The Amex Gold card’s annual fee is $250 while, for example, the American Express Platinum card’s is $695.

That said, if you’re an extremely frequent traveler and use airport lounges on a regular basis, it’s worth getting a credit card with free Global Lounge Collection access. It would cost thousands of dollars to buy unlimited access to all of those lounge brands individually.

Lounges: The airport lounge brands that belong to the Amex Global Lounge Collection are Centurion, International American Express, Delta Sky Club, Priority Pass, Plaza Premium, Airspace and Escape.

Amenities: Different lounges offer different amenities. But in general, you can expect to receive free Wi-Fi, free snacks and beverages, charging stations and comfortable seating. Depending on the lounge network and location, you might also find things like business meeting rooms, printing, newspapers, showers and more.

How to enter: You will need to present your credit card and ID to enter. In some cases, you will also need a same-day boarding pass. Each lounge has their own rules about how many guests you can bring in for free and how much it costs to bring in additional guests.

The Global Lounge Collection is a valuable perk. Buying a membership for even one of these individual lounges can cost hundreds of dollars. But as long as you have one of the eligible Amex cards, you get unlimited free access to each lounge.
