The Blue Cash Preferred gas rewards rate is 3% cash back on eligible gasoline purchases at gas stations located in the U.S, earned as statement credit. Gas purchases at superstores such as Walmart and Target, supermarkets, and warehouse clubs that sell gasoline do not qualify for the gas rewards rate and will only get 1% cash back. The 1% base earnings rate also applies to fuel purchases at locations that do not assign the correct merchant category code for gasoline.

Blue Cash Preferred is considered one of the best gas credit cards on the market. Having said that, you might as well compare it with some other good credit cards for gas purchases, to weigh your options.
