To change the airline for the Amex Platinum annual airline credit, log in to your online Platinum account and click “Benefits.” Scroll to “$200 Airline Fee Credit” and click “Learn More” to pick a replacement from among the 9 qualifying airlines. Or, call 1 (800) 528-4800 and request to change airlines.
Cardholders can select one qualifying airline any time after being approved for the card but cannot change to another airline for the rest of that year. After that, changes in airlines are allowed only once in a calendar year and must be made by January 31. Cardholders who don’t change airlines by the deadline will stay with their current airline for the remainder of the year.
Amex Platinum cardholders can change to any of these qualifying airlines:
- Alaska Airlines
- American Airlines
- Delta Airlines
- Frontier Airlines
- Hawaiian Airlines
- JetBlue Airways
- Spirit Airlines
- Southwest Airlines
- United Airlines
You must charge any incidental fees from your chosen airline to your Platinum card for the credit to apply. Incidental fees are charges separate from the price of an airline ticket and may include baggage fees, airport lounge day passes and memberships, pet fees, and more.
Airfare, ticket upgrades, gift cards, and point transfer fees are among the charges that do not count toward the annual fee credit. You’re eligible for a maximum of $200 in fee credits per calendar year and unused credits will not roll over to the next year.
