The American Express Platinum card medical evacuation benefit provides emergency transportation at no cost for cardholders or family members who become seriously ill or injured while traveling together and need medical attention. To be eligible, a trip must be less than 90 days long and at least 100 miles from the cardholder’s U.S. billing address. Coverage does not apply to pre-existing conditions, charges for medical expenses or transportation of personal items, including luggage.
To request transport, call the Amex 24/7 Premium Global Assist Hotline at 1 (800) 345-2639. The hotline’s medical staff will evaluate the situation and coordinate evacuation/transportation to an appropriate facility. Transports must be deemed medically necessary and advised by a hotline-designated physician. The cardholder is responsible for any transportation costs not authorized and arranged through the Global Assist Hotline.
In order for your family to receive the medical evacuation benefit, they must travel on the same itinerary as you. Trips must not be against medical advice or for the purpose of seeking medical treatment. A completed HIPAA medical information release form may also be required before any services are rendered.
Benefit Disclosure: Eligibility and benefit level varies by card. Terms, conditions and limitations apply. Please visit americanexpress.com/benefitsguide for more details. If approved and coordinated by Premium Global Assist Hotline, emergency medical transportation assistance may be provided at no cost. In any other circumstance, cardmembers may be responsible for the costs charged by third-party service providers.
