Did we answer your question?
This is incorrect. I had my wife as an authorized user for 3 years on my bank of america credit card account. She received her own credit card with her name on it, but after 3 years and looking her up on credit karma, it stated that she still had no credit linked to her social security number. I called BoA and they confirmed that being an authorized user on BoA does NOT build credit and it is NOT reported to the credit bureaus. They have a separate account that needs to be setup with a separate application to have someone build their own credit. I was very surprised with this as well, but they confirmed with me multiple times that by simply adding someone as an authorized user via their website does NOT create an account where they can build/improve their own credit.
