The best credit card rewards programs are Chase Ultimate Rewards, Discover it Rewards, Capital One Venture Rewards and Citi Double Cash. Each includes at least one card that offers an above-average earning rate on some or all spending categories.
For example, Chase Ultimate Rewards features the Sapphire Preferred and Sapphire Reserve cards, which reward travel spending more heavily. And Citi Double Cash simply offers 2% cash back on all purchases, no matter the category. That’s twice the normal amount for a cash back card.
Basically, the philosophy here is that if you get one of the best rewards credit cards, you’re also getting access to one of the best credit card rewards programs.
Credit Cards with the Best Rewards:
Chase Sapphire Preferred: 2 points per $1 spent on travel and 1 on all other purchases.
Chase Sapphire Reserve: 3 points per $1 spent on travel and 1 on all other purchases.
Discover it Cash Back: 5% cash back on select purchases and 1% on everything else.
Capital One Venture: 2 miles per $1 spent on all purchases.
Citi Double Cash: 2% cash back on all purchases.
Most good rewards cards will require you to have good or even excellent credit. But there are a few great options for fair, limited or bad credit out there.
