You can use your Blue Cash Preferred card anywhere American Express is accepted.

American Express isn’t the most widely accepted card network but you can still use it in more than 10.6 million U.S. locations.

Keep in mind that you could use your American Express card abroad but it’s not universally accepted, especially in European stores and restaurants because of its high merchant charges. You will also need to take the card’s 2.7% foreign transaction fee into consideration.

You shouldn’t have a problem with withdrawing cash from an ATM abroad with your Blue Cash Preferred. But cash advances are very expensive, so my advice is to carry a backup card that’s more widely accepted when traveling outside the U.S.
