Capital One’s credit card requirements state that you must be at least 18 years old with a valid Social Security number and monthly income that exceeds your rent or mortgage payments by at least $425. Applicants also must have a physical address (not a P.O. Box) in the United States. If you’re under 21, you’ll be asked to show proof of your ability to independently make monthly credit card payments.
In addition, all applicants must provide an estimated annual income and the sources of that income. This could include salary and wages earned from a full-time or part-time job. Or, it could be self-employment income, interest, dividends, or disability/retirement benefits, among other sources.
Capital One also sets minimum credit requirements for each of its cards. The Quicksilver, Savor, SavorOne, Venture and VentureOne cards are among those that require at least a good credit score (700+). But you can qualify for the Platinum, QuicksilverOne and Journey Student Rewards cards with no credit history. The Capital One Secured Mastercard is designed for people with bad credit (score below 640).
