Capital One Journey rental car insurance covers cardholders for damage due to a collision or theft, up to the cash value of the vehicle, when they rent an eligible car with the Journey credit card. Coverage also includes reasonable towing fees to the nearest repair shop and loss-of-use charges from the rental company. The Capital One Journey card’s rental insurance covers domestic car rentals that do not exceed 15 consecutive days and international car rentals that don’t exceed 31 consecutive days.
To qualify for Journey rental insurance coverage, make the whole rental purchase with your Journey credit card and refuse extra coverage from the rental company. Any claims for theft or damage must be reported no later than 45 days after the incident. To report an incident, call the Benefit Administrator at the number provided on your card’s benefits guide.
Bear in mind that Capital One Journey rental car insurance will kick in only after you file a claim with any other insurance policy that covers the car. Remember that Capital One’s coverage has many eligibility restrictions, too. Motorcycles, mopeds, motorbikes, trucks, limos, and some vans are not covered, for example. This list is not exhaustive, so refer to the benefits guide that came with your card for a complete explanation.
