Capital One Quicksilver is a cash back card designed for people with good credit, whereas Chase Sapphire Preferred is a points rewards card for serious travelers with excellent credit. Quicksilver offers 1.5% cash back on all purchases. Sapphire Preferred gives 5 points per $1 spent on travel purchased through Chase, 2 points per $1 on all other travel purchases, 3 points per $1 on dining and online grocery purchases, 3 points per $1 on select streaming services, and 1 point per $1 on all other purchases.
The Quicksilver card's sign up bonus is $200 for spending just $500 in the first 3 months from when the account was opened. Sapphire Preferred offers 60,000 points (worth $750 in travel) for spending $4,000 in the first 3 months. Quicksilver offers introductory 0% APRs, while Sapphire Preferred does not. Quicksilver does not have an annual fee, but Sapphire Preferred's annual fee is $95. Neither card charges a foreign transaction fee.
