You don’t have to do anything special to get the Capital One Venture metal card. All new cardholders who are approved for Capital One Venture will receive the metal version, unless they specifically request to. There was a special promotion that you could customize the card with a photo, but that’s not available anymore.
Here’s how to get the Capital One Venture metal card:
- If you’re a new applicant: Apply for the card and you’ll automatically get a metal card.
- If you’re an existing cardholder: Ask for a metal replacement. Call the number on the back of your card and ask if you’re eligible for the metal version. Some people aren’t, due to things like missed payments in the past. But if you are, you can order a replacement, which should arrive in 7-10 business days.
There’s no difference in rates, fees or the way you use the metal card vs. the plastic one. But naturally, the metal one feels a bit more prestigious. Metal credit cards are typically the cards with the highest annual fees and the best benefits. That being said, don’t worry too much about what your credit card is made of. It’s just a tool for making purchases, and its terms are what really matter.
If you’re keen on getting a metal credit card and don’t want to pay hundreds of dollars in annual fees, this is a great option. Capital One Venture comes with excellent rewards: 2 miles per $1 spent, along with 50,000 bonus miles for spending $3,000 during the first 3 months your account is open.
It’s also important to note that although Capital One hasn’t announced an end date for the Venture metal cards, this promotion could end at any time.

The Capital One Venture card is metal. It’s heavier than the competing Chase Sapphire Preferred and the Chase Sapphire Reserve.
Currently, this update doesn’t affect existing cardholders unfortunately, so if you already have the card it’ll be replaced with a plastic one when it expires. They might have changed the policy though, so it is always best to give them a call. Good luck!

the Venture Card is no longer a metal credit card. somehow articles like this one keeps listing them as metal. Per Capital One, they no longer offer the metal version —- same situation with IHG Premier, Chase also said they no longer offer the metal version of the card.

You simply have to apply for the Venture card and get approved to receive a card that is “made of stainless steel veneer and is produced with 75% recycled materials,” according to Cap One. The offer doesn’t apply to existing cardholders.

You don't have to do anything, except apply for the card, and get approved.

This is absolutely incorrect regarding the metal cards. i have been a Capital One Venture Card holder for maybe 10 years now. I've never missed a payment, actually had my credit line increased by them, and have used it not just personally, but for large work purchases so have a solid spending history. Despite all this, one of my young employees who just signed up for her first credit card received the new metal one, and I have been stonewalled and unable to get one myself. I've called them multiple times now, most recently at great length, going as far up the management chain as I could. Presenting my case, letting my record speak for itself, offering up that there are many enticing other options out there for me, and they didn't budge an inch... I know no one knows me here, so it's of course on you to decide if you believe my story or not. But if you do, I'll add on that this pushed me over the edge. I just last week signed up for the Chase Sapphire Preferred card, with a solid rate, and of course, the fantastic sign up bonus. I'm switching. And all I wanted from Capital One after a decade of being a good client... was the same metal card that they give now to any 18 year old kid, any child who's never had a credit card, any new customer with previous bad credit, basically any sentient being that walks in off the street and opens and account. BUT, no existing customers, of course... Anyways, rant over. I think it was a horribly PR decision. I made the switch and I'm out. Hope this offers some glimmer of insight. : )

All sounds good in theory, however, this is outdated and invalid information. Anyone that applied for and received the Capital One Venture Card after February 27th has been sent a plastic version and will not be replaced with a metal version at this time.
