Chase Sapphire Preferred does not offer cell phone insurance. It’s not a common benefit, but it’s a valuable perk on credit cards that do offer it. Some cards will reimburse cardholders up to $1,000 if a covered cell phone is lost or damaged. The caveat is that you must charge your cell phone bill to your Sapphire Preferred card every month.
The only Chase card that provides cell phone insurance is the Ink Business Preferred card. It reimburses cardholders up to $600 per claim with a $100 deductible. Cardholders are limited to 3 claims per year.
Some good credit cards with cell phone protection include the Barclays Uber Credit Card, the U.S. Bank Visa Platinum card, the Bank of America Cash Rewards card, all Wells Fargo consumer credit cards, the Chase Ink Business Preferred card, and the Citi Prestige card. Cell phone insurance isn’t commonly offered by major credit cards, but it’s certainly a welcome perk. Cell phones don’t come cheap, and some credit cards offer up to $1,000 in reimbursement for a stolen or damaged phone.
Just remember that all credit cards with cell phone protection have the same rule: You must continuously pay your cell phone bill with the credit card, or else your phone won’t get coverage. To make sure your phone is covered, it’s best to set up automatic monthly phone-bill payments with your card as the payment method.
Credit Cards with Cell Phone Protection:
Citi Prestige: Coverage up to $1,000 per claim or $1,500 per year; limit of 2 claims per year; $50 deductible.
All Wells Fargo consumer credit cards: Coverage up to $600 per claim or $1,200 per year; limit of 2 claims per year; $25 deductible.
Bank of America Cash Rewards: Coverage up to $600 per claim or $1,200 per year; limit of 2 claims per year; $50 deductible.
Barclays Uber Visa: Coverage up to $600 per claim or $1,000 per year; limit of 2 claims per year; $25 deductible.
U.S. Bank Visa Platinum: Coverage up to $600 per claim or $1,200 per year; limit of 2 claims per year; $25 deductible.
Chase Ink Business Preferred: Coverage up to $600 per claim; limit of 3 claims per year; $100 deductible.
First Citizens Cash Back Rewards: Coverage up to $500 per claim or $1,000 per year; limit of 2 claims per year; $50 deductible.

None of these credit cards cover phones that are lost, as opposed to stolen. Some cards also have specific stipulations for what is and is not covered.
For example, the Uber Credit Card won’t cover a phone that has been stolen out of checked baggage (i.e. baggage that isn’t in your supervision). And neither the Uber Credit Card nor the U.S. Bank Visa Platinum card will cover a phone damaged in a flood, during an earthquake, or by radioactive contamination.
So make sure you’re up to speed on your card’s specific rules.
