You can check to see if you qualify for Chase Sapphire Reserve® pre-approval using Chase’s free online tool. All you have to do is enter your name, address and SSN, and Chase will show you a list of cards you’re likely to be approved for. It’s a simple process and doesn’t hurt your credit score in any way, as a soft inquiry is used to evaluate your credit history. If you find out that you’re pre-approved for Sapphire Reserve, you’ll have the opportunity to apply right away. Although approval isn’t guaranteed, you’ll have very high chances.
Here’s how to check for Chase Sapphire Reserve pre-approval:
- Go to the Chase pre-approval check page.
- Enter your name, address, and the last 4 digits of your Social Security number. This will allow Chase to do a harmless soft pull of your credit report.
- Check the box confirming that you know this isn’t an application and that you give Chase permission to look at your credit.
- Click “Find my offers.”
Any Chase credit cards you pre-qualify for will appear at this point. If Chase Sapphire Reserve isn’t among them, it doesn’t mean you can’t get approved. But you’re probably more likely to be rejected. If you do see Sapphire Reserve, the odds are in your favor but approval is not guaranteed. It’s also important to remember that if you choose to apply, Chase will do a hard pull of your credit, which will temporarily lower your score.
Some third-party sites report that Sapphire Reserve is no longer among the Chase cards you can get pre-approved for, but a Chase representative we talked to didn’t think that was actually the case. Regardless of which cards show up, though, checking for pre-approval is always worthwhile because it tells you which options give you the best chance of success.
