The Chase Slate card is not metal. It’s available only as a traditional plastic credit card. Chase currently offers three metal credit cards: Sapphire Preferred, Sapphire Reserve and the Prime version of the co-branded Amazon.com Credit Card. Unfortunately, Chase Slate does not offer any custom designs, either. Chase Slate cards all come with a background featuring multiple shades of blue and the card name in the upper-left corner.

Metal credit cards, typically regarded as elite and premium cards, are growing in popularity. Issuers are trying to meet the increased demand with new offerings on a regular basis. However, metal credit cards often have high credit requirements and charge annual fees. Chase Slate has a $0 annual fee, though it does require above-average credit.
