To request a Citi Diamond Preferred credit limit increase, call customer service at 1 (800) 950-5114 or access the Card Management menu from your Citi online account. Before requesting an increase, cardholders should have at least 6 consecutive months of on-time payments on the account. Consistently paying on time could also boost your chances of receiving an automatic credit limit increase without having to ask.
If you’re requesting a Citi Diamond Preferred credit limit increase over the phone, follow the voice prompts to connect to a customer service representative. You will be asked to provide your total annual income and monthly housing payment amount, along with your account details. It’s also fairly simple to request an increase online.
How to Request a Citi Diamond Preferred Credit Limit Increase Online:
- Log in to your account. Click the “Services” tab and then select “Credit Card Services.”
- From the “Card Management” menu, click “Request a Credit Limit Increase.”
- Choose the Diamond Preferred card from the “Select an account” drop down menu.
- Enter your total annual income and your monthly housing payment in the appropriate fields.
- Verify that the information is accurate. Click the “Continue” button to submit the request.
You should receive a decision nearly instantly – within a few seconds of submitting the request. If you’re approved for an increase, your new credit limit will be effective immediately.
If you want an even bigger credit limit increase than what Citi offers, you can request an additional increase. Enter your desired amount in the “Total Requested Credit Limit” field and submit your request. Note that if you request more credit than Citi initially offers, you grant Citi permission to pull your full credit report. But if you just ask for an increase without specifying an amount, Citi will not do a hard credit pull.
If your request is denied, you will receive a letter detailing the reason(s) for the denial. You will also have an opportunity to request a manual review by Citi. For a manual review, you agree to let Citi pull your credit report. You will have to re-enter your annual income and provide additional bank account information. Citi reviews all requests within 24 hours.
