The Citi Premier credit card does not have travel insurance anymore, after Citi removed all travel insurance coverage from the Citi Premier and most other Citi cards in 2019. Citi Premier used to offer insurance for travel accidents, trip cancellation or interruption, trip delays, baggage delays, lost bags, and rental cars. Unfortunately, all those benefits are no longer available.
Even though Citi Premier lacks travel insurance, it’s still a good travel credit card. It offers 3 points / $1 spent on air travel and hotels and has a 0% foreign transaction fee.
Some of the best Citi Premier Card benefits are annual hotel savings and the ability to transfer points to airline loyalty programs. The Citi Premier Card also has 0% foreign transaction fees and offers an initial bonus of 80,000 points. Citi Premier doesn’t have any traditional benefits like travel insurance or protections for purchased items, though.… read full answer

While travel credit cards can have great rewards and perks, you don’t necessarily need one to save on travel. For example, the Citi Double Cash Card offers 2% cash back on all purchases (1% when you buy and 1% when you pay for those purchases). The only issue is that cash back cards usually charge foreign transaction fees (3% for the Citi Double Cash Card) so they’re not always ideal for going abroad.
