A few good credit cards with no annual fee and no foreign transaction fee are the Capital One VentureOne, PenFed Platinum Rewards, and HSBC Gold credit cards because none have annual or foreign fees, and all have some kind of introductory perk.
Capital One VentureOne is the free sibling of Capital One Venture, and it’s a great travel card that gives 1.25 miles / $1. Plus, spending $500 in the first 3 months will give you an initial bonus of 20,000 miles, which is worth about $200 in travel.
The PenFed Platinum Rewards Credit Card is fee-free, and has a great tiered rewards rate for everyday purchases. You’ll get 5 points per $1 spent on gas, 3 points per $1 spent at grocery stores, and 1 point per $1 on all other purchases. And this card also gives a $100 statement credit as a bonus for spending $1,500 in the first 90 days. Doing a balance transfer with this card can be a good idea, too – it has an intro APR period of 0% for 12 months on balance transfers.
The HSBC Gold Credit Card is another card with a $0 annual fee and no foreign fees. But its best value is in its introductory APR periods. This card offers 0% for 18 months on balance transfers and 0% for 18 months on purchases – which is months longer than the average 0% APR period.
