Yes, Aldi does take American Express credit cards. Aldi accepts cards on all four major networks in its U.S. locations. The grocery chain previously accepted only cash and debit cards, but it changed its policy in 2016 to attract more customers.
One of the best American Express cards to use at Aldi is the Blue Cash Preferred® Card from American Express, because it offers 6% cash back on the first $6,000 in supermarket purchases per year. The combination of Aldi’s low prices with the Blue Cash Preferred card could save shoppers a ton of money.
Please note that some Aldi locations outside of the U.S. do not take American Express, despite accepting other credit cards. Although Amex cards aren’t always as practical overseas as Visa and Mastercard, American Express does have a fairly large domestic network. As of 2019, 99% of U.S. merchants who accept credit cards accept American Express, so you don’t need to worry too much about your Amex card’s domestic acceptance.
