Kroger does accept American Express cards at its stores and on the Kroger website and mobile app. Shoppers can pay with an Amex, Visa, Mastercard or Discover card, or they can use cash, personal checks, debit cards and gift cards. Customers can also make contactless payments using Kroger Pay and other digital wallet services, though some locations don’t accept Apple Pay and Google Pay.
There are some forms of payment that Kroger will not accept for grocery purchases at its stores. Among them are money orders, foreign checks, and foreign currency. Kroger also does not accept personal checks for grocery pickup or delivery orders.

Most major gas station chains (like BP, Exxon, Shell, Texaco, Gulf, and Murphy USA) will accept American Express, but you may find a handful of independent gas stations that will only accept Visa/Mastercard/Discover.
