There is no First Digital Mastercard foreign transaction fee because this card cannot be used outside of the U.S. And that doesn’t just apply for cardholders who travel abroad – the card will not work for any transactions made in a foreign currency, even ones made online while the cardholder is still in the U.S.
Since the First Digital Mastercard can’t be used for foreign transactions, its main purpose is building credit within the U.S. Using this card responsibly could eventually help you qualify for a good travel rewards card with no foreign transaction fee that would help you make the most of your trips abroad. However, if you’re planning to go outside the U.S. in the near future and need a credit card, a good alternative would be the Capital One Platinum card. Like the First Digital Mastercard, it only requires limited credit for approval, and it has no foreign transaction fee. This card is also much less expensive than the First Digital Mastercard.
