The best high limit credit cards for average credit are Capital One QuicksilverOne and Capital One Platinum. They each guarantee you a $300 limit, although you can get more than that depending on your credit and income. But it really depends on how you define average credit. The average credit score actually is in the fair credit range, and those two Capital One cards require limited/fair credit for approval. You’ll need a 700+ credit score for high approval odds with a card that requires good credit.
The highest minimum credit limit you’ll find advertised on a credit card for fair credit is $300. But if you can wait a few months and bring your credit score up to the good range, you can qualify for cards with $500 minimum limits or higher. For example, Citi Double Cash, Chase Slate and all Discover it cards have $500 minimums and require good credit.
Alternatively, if you have a lot of cash on hand, you could get a secured card that lets you place a large deposit in return for a spending limit of an equal amount. One good card for that is Wells Fargo Secured.
Here are the best high limit credit cards for average credit:
Capital One QuicksilverOne: $300 minimum limit. 1.5% cash back on all purchases. $39 annual fee. Can get higher credit limit by paying on time for 5 months. Fair or limited credit needed.
Capital One Platinum: $300 minimum limit. No rewards. No annual fee. Can get higher credit limit by paying on time for 5 months. Fair or limited credit needed.
Citi Double Cash: $500 minimum limit. 2% cash back on all purchases. No annual fee. Can call to request a credit limit increase after months of on-time payments. Good credit needed (700+).
Wells Fargo Secured: $300-$10,000 limit, depending on how much you deposit. No rewards. $25 annual fee. Can increase credit limit by adding to deposit, but only up to $10,000 total. Available to people with bad credit.
If you can get your credit into “good” territory, you’ll have access to lots of high limit credit cards. Double Cash is one of the best, but Citi Simplicity, Chase Slate and Discover it are other good options that give at least $500 minimum.
