There can be several reasons why your Home Depot® Credit Card was denied. In most cases, this happens because:

Your credit score is too low
You don’t have enough income
You have too much existing debt
You have too many credit cards or recent inquiries on your credit report
There's a recent delinquency, negative information or error on your credit report

However, you could call the Home Depot® Credit Card customer service at (800) 695-5171 and ask for a reconsideration. If they won't change their decision, you could consider becoming an authorized user on someone else's account.

Ultimately, you could apply for a secured credit card that offers better approval odds.
