I travel for business about 2 weeks a month and when I do, I use my American Express Starwood Preferred guest card for all my purchases. Then I save the points for taking the family on vacation, so my business travels pay for my hotel on vacation. Can't beat that. The interest rates a little high, but I pay it off every month anyway, so that doesn't really affect me.
I personally love the four seasons hotels and resorts. If there is one of these hotels in town, then I will take advantage of the opportunity and book two or three nights in advance for me and my kids. Another hotel that I love are the Marriott hotels, and the reward cards that they offer. When I go to a hotel, I want a good and cheap hotel. The Marriott Reward card has saved me about 300 dollars, I believe, and I am very happy to say that. I love that the more points I get on my card, I will get a free night later on. I always make sure that I bring my card whenever I go to this hotel.
