To cancel a First Progress Platinum Elite credit card, call customer service at 1 (866) 706-5543 and ask a customer service rep to cancel your card account. First Progress does not allow you to cancel an account in person or by mail.
Be aware that if there’s a balance remaining on the canceled account, you will still need to make at least the minimum payment every month until the balance is paid in full. You will also need to update the payment method for any recurring charges linked to your First Progress Platinum Elite card.
How to Cancel a First Progress Platinum Elite Credit Card

Call customer service at 1 (866) 706-5543 and enter your account number and Social Security number to verify your identity.
Then, follow the prompts to speak to a customer service representative, and let them know you want to cancel. The representative may offer you a retention bonus to keep you on as a customer, but you can simply decline the offer and proceed with canceling the account.
It’s important to know that when you cancel a First Progress Platinum Elite card, you may see a decrease in your credit score, depending on the card’s credit limit and how long you’ve had the card. You must call them to request the cancellation. They will tell you that you will receive a letter within two weeks confirming your request and that the refund of your security deposit will be in about 10 weeks. They will return the funds to the banl account that you used to fund the card. BUT, I FOUND ON THEIR FAQS (https://www.firstprogress.com/faq) that you can write them a letter and within 7 business days of receipt of that letter, they will send you a credit balance refund check.

If I close my account, how will I receive a refund of my security deposit?
We will automatically credit your account for the amount of the security deposit in full when you close your account. If a credit balance remains after any outstanding charges, a credit balance refund check will be a mailed to your address of record within 10 weeks. If you wish to receive your credit balance refund check on an expedited basis after closing an account, please request this by writing us at First Progress Credit Balance Refund Requests, PO Box 9053, Johnson City, TN 37615-9053. We will issue a credit balance refund check within 7 business days upon receipt of such a request.
