The Chase Ink bonus categories for extra rewards are office supplies; Internet, cable and phone services; dining; and gas with the Ink Cash card. And the Chase Ink Preferred bonus categories are travel; advertising on social media sites and search engines; shipping expenses; and Internet, cable and phone services. Chase Ink Unlimited doesn’t have bonus categories, offering 1.5% cash back on all purchases.
The Chase Ink Cash bonus categories will earn you 2-5 points per $1 spent. With Ink Preferred, you’ll get 3 points per $1 in bonus categories. All three Ink Business cards also give an initial bonus for spending a certain amount in the first few months. Those purchases can be in any category.
Here are the Chase Ink bonus categories:
Chase Ink Cash Bonus Categories: 5 points per $1 spent on office supplies and Internet, cable and phone services (up to $25,000 spent per year); 2 points per $1 on dining and gas stations (up to $25,000 spent per year).
Chase Ink Preferred Bonus Categories: 3 points per $1 spent advertising on social media sites and search engines; travel purchases; Internet, cable and phone services; and shipping expenses (up to $150,000 spent per year between all categories).
Chase Ink Unlimited Bonus Categories: None (1.5% cash back on all purchases).
Chase Ink Initial Bonuses: Ink Cash and Ink Unlimited offer $500 for spending $3,000 (in any category) in your first three months. Ink Preferred gives you 80,000 bonus points for spending $5,000 (any category) in three months.
You can take advantage of the various Chase Ink bonus categories by doing something called a “product change.” For example, if you get the Preferred card’s 80,000 point signup bonus and then decide you’d rather have the spending categories or no annual fee offered by one of the other cards, you can contact Chase customer service. They can switch you to the card of your choice. You also have the option to switch back if you choose.
Not all Ink Business cardholders are eligible for a product change. Your card typically has to be open for at least 12 months. To find out if you are eligible, you can either call Chase customer service or send them a secure message through your online account. You cannot make a product change from an Ink Business card to a non-Chase business card or from an Ink Business card to a Chase personal credit card.
