No, the Citi Double Cash Card is not going away, though Citibank is changing the card’s rewards program a bit. As of March 2022, Citi Double Cash cardholders earn Citi ThankYou points on purchases instead of directly receiving cash back. But you will still be earning 2% back on all purchases.

Citi ThankYou points are worth 1 cent each when redeemed for cash in the form of a statement credit, direct deposit, or check. Citi ThankYou points can also be redeemed for travel, gift cards and shopping with PayPal or on Amazon.com, among other options.

Yes, Citi Double Cash actually gives 2% cash back on every purchase. The card gives 1% when you buy and 1% as you pay for those purchases as long as you pay at least the minimum amount due every billing cycle.

The second half of the 2% cash back only applies to the amount you repay to Citi each month. That means you won’t get the full cash back rewards value on any purchase until you pay it off entirely.
