No, this card does not have an activation fee. In fact, with the exception of secured credit cards (which require a security deposit that serves as your credit line) and certain unsecured credit cards for people with bad credit, most credit cards do not charge any sort of activation fee. Many have annual fees, but the activation fee is more common with prepaid cards.
On February of this year, I bought a washing machine from Best Buy. I applied for the Best Buy visa card since this allowed me to pay my purchase using installments, interest free, for 18 months. Little did I know that Best Buy will start add fraudulent late fees charges on my account. Initially I was paying $27/month, then Best Buy visa started to change my amount from $27 to $31 to $57 to $61 that it became so confusing I could not keep up with those changes and they started adding late fees every month, stating the amount paid was incorrect. I called their Customer Service multiple times and escalated only to be told misleading information, by the supervisor, to the extent that this is not a late fee, is going to be deducted from your total payment, etc. She insisted that I only have to pay $31 for the month of October since I paid two weeks prior the $27. They sent me an interim bill for $61 (this is a game they play in order to state that you have not paid the full monthly amount, allowing them to overcharge).
This constitutes fraud and their illegal business practices should be reported. Be aware of their SCAM. Worse credit card.
