You can check if you pre-qualify for the Walmart Credit Card by using the issuer’s online tool. Fill out the form with your personal information and click on the “See If You’re Pre-Approved” button to find out whether you’re pre-qualified for the Walmart Credit Card. The same method applies for the Walmart® Store Card, too.
You may also get a Walmart Credit Card pre-approved offer in the mail. You can respond to this offer online or by calling the number mentioned in the letter. You will just need to provide the reservation number included in your offer letter, so that the issuer can flag your application as pre-approved.
What you should know about the Walmart Credit Card pre-qualification and approval process:
- Pre-approved offers will not affect your credit score as they are based on soft inquiries on your credit report. But if you do apply, a hard inquiry will be triggered, which can temporarily cause a dip in your credit score.
- Walmart Credit Card pre-qualification only indicates that you have decent odds for approval, but it does not guarantee you’ll get the card.

- If you don’t qualify for the Walmart Credit Card, the issuer may consider you for the Walmart® Store Card. The Walmart® Store Card isn’t as versatile as the Walmart Credit Card (which is on the Mastercard network). So, the Walmart® Store Card can only be used for Walmart and Walmart.com purchases, Sam’s Club in-store purchases, and Murphy USA gas stations. But you’ll still be able to earn rewards with this card.
Once you’re pre-qualified for the Walmart Credit Card, you can apply right away. Walmart Credit Card applications are typically approved or denied instantly, or later the same day. But if you don’t get instant approval, it could take another week or two to hear back.
