You can apply for the Shell Gas Card either online, or over the phone at (877) 697-4355. To apply, you will need to provide personal information such as your name, date of birth, home address, annual income, and Social Security Number. The same methods apply to the Shell Credit Card.
You may receive a decision instantly. If not, you will be notified of the decision by mail within 7-10 business days. Rarely, however, it can take the issuer up to 30 days to make a ruling. If approved for an account, your card should arrive within 14 days of the decision.
You cannot qualify for a Shell Credit Card pre-approval, unfortunately. The only way to find out whether or not you qualify, is to apply for the card. This will result in a hard pull, and might hurt your credit for a short period of time.

But issuers consider many factors on an application, such as income, number of recent credit inquiries, past bankruptcies and more. So it’s always possible an issuer will need more time to come to a decision. And the approval process may take longer if the issuer cannot immediately verify the personal information on the application.
Again, just about any gas credit card offers instant approval. But that doesn’t necessarily mean you’ll get it. Factors that will increase your likelihood of getting instant approval for any credit card include: a high credit score, a high income, and completely correct and up-to-date information on your credit card application.
Keep in mind that you can usually use these cards inside the gas station as well, so they are not exclusively for gas purchases. You just can’t use them anywhere else.
Some of these specialized store credit cards also have counterpart Visa or Mastercards that are accepted everywhere – not just at gas stations. Some of their applications will actually consider you for the Visa or Mastercard version before you’re considered for the store card, too – such as the Chevron and Texaco Gas Card. So, be sure to read the fine print before you apply, to make sure you’re applying directly for the card you want.
