No, there aren’t any credit cards that offer trip cancellation insurance for any reason. Many cards will reimburse you if your trip is canceled or interrupted. But the reasons have to be extraordinary: Sickness, death, severe weather, etc. Sickness must be verified by a physician, too.
There are separate Cancel for Any Reason (CFAR) benefits that provide extended trip cancellation coverage. These benefits are available for an additional charge through insurance carriers that offer travel insurance plans. CFAR benefits are optional and the cost varies depending on the travel insurance plan.
You do have to meet certain eligibility requirements in order to qualify for CFAR benefits. Depending on the policy, you’ll have to enroll within between 10 and 21 days of your first trip payment (such as an initial deposit). You must also insure all pre-paid non-refundable trip costs. Typically, you’re covered for 100% of those insured costs for cancellations up to 48 hours prior to your scheduled departure date.
