There is no Uber credit card promotion anymore as the Uber Credit Card has been discontinued. However, there are other cards that feature Uber promotions or other general perks that can be used toward Uber.
Here are some of the credit cards that are best for Uber:
The Platinum Card® from American Express: Offers up to $200 in Uber credits each year for Uber rides or eats in the U.S. (up to $15 per month and $20 in December), redeemable by adding your card as a payment method to the Uber app.
Chase Sapphire Reserve®: Gives you $300 annual travel credit as a statement credit reimbursement for your travel purchases, including Uber rides. Through December 31st 2021, gas station and grocery store purchases will also earn you travel credit. Once you’ve earned the $300 annual travel credit, you also get 3 points / $1 spent on travel and an extra 7 points (for a total of 10 points) on qualifying Lyft rides until March 31st 2022. 1 point / $1 on everything else.
Blue Cash Preferred® Card from American Express: Doesn’t feature any promotions specifically designed with Uber in mind, but it earns you a $150 statement credit after spending $3,000 in the first 6 months. On top of that, you earn 6% cash back on U.S. supermarkets purchases (up to $6,000 spent per year, then 1% thereafter) and many U.S streaming services. You also get 3% cash back on U.S. gas stations and transit, including Uber, taxis, subways and buses and 1% on all other purchases. Cash back is paid out in the form of statement credits.
Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card: Doesn’t have any Uber-specific promotions, but its initial bonus coupled with its earn rate of 2 miles / $1 spent on all purchases makes it a great general purpose travel card. New cardholders earn 100,000 miles bonus for spending $20,000 within the first 12 months or 50,000 bonus miles for spending $3,000 in the first 3 months. Miles can be redeemed for recent Uber rides through Capital One’s Purchase Eraser at a rate of 1 cent per point within 90 days from the date the purchase posts to your account.
You could pay for Uber rides with a debit card. But if you do, you’ll lose out on all the rewards that credit cards offer. Even if the rewards aren’t Uber-specific, it’ll still be worthwhile to get something back for every dollar you spend.
The Uber Credit Card’s credit score requirement was “good” for good approval odds, but this card is not available anymore.
The Uber Credit Card’s credit score requirement was in line with what it takes to get other Barclays credit cards; they all require at least good or excellent credit. But your credit score isn’t the only thing Barclays will consider when evaluating your application, either. You must be at least 18 years old to apply for the Uber Card (or any credit card). They’ll also take your income into account. If you’re under 21, you must have independent income to qualify—i.e., not someone else’s shared income. And they won’t approve you for a card if you’ve defaulted with them in the past.… read full answer
