To add a U.S. Bank authorized user, either log in to your U.S. Bank account online and click the “Customer Service” tab, or use the U.S. mobile app. Alternatively, call customer service at (800) 285-8585. You will need to provide the person's full name, Social Security Number and date of birth to add them as an authorized user.
A primary cardholder can make anyone a U.S. Bank authorized user, as long as they are at least 16 years old. U. S. Bank does limit you to a maximum of seven authorized users per account, though.
How to Add a U.S. Bank Authorized User Online
- Log in to your U.S. Bank account.
- Click the “Customer Service” tab.
- Click “Add Authorized User” under the “Self Service” menu.
- Enter the authorized user’s full name, Social Security Number and date of birth.
- Click “Submit authorized user request.”
When you add a U.S. Bank authorized user, they will receive their own credit card, sent to your mailing address, within 7-10 business days of being added to the account. The authorized user’s credit card will be linked to your account and will have full access to the account’s credit limit. U.S. Bank Authorized users are able to make purchases, use the card for cash advances, access information and make limited changes to the account and earn rewards. However, they cannot redeem rewards, request credit limit increases, add other authorized users, or close the account.
In addition, any purchases an authorized user makes on the account will appear on your statement, and as the primary cardholder, you are responsible for all purchases on the account. U.S. Bank reports account information to all three of the major credit bureaus, which affects not only the user’s credit history, but also the primary cardholder’s.
