Yes, U.S. Bank does pay for TSA PreCheck with certain credit cards. Eligible U.S. Bank cardholders can get up to $100 as a statement credit toward TSA PreCheck every 4 or 5 years, depending on the card, as long as they pay for the TSA PreCheck program costs with their U.S. Bank card.
U.S. Bank Credit Cards That Pay for TSA PreCheck
- U.S. Bank Altitude® Connect Visa Signature® Card
- U.S. Bank Altitude Reserve Visa Infinite® Card
- U.S. Bank FlexPerks® Gold American Express® Card
The TSA PreCheck application costs $85, and these credit cards will reimburse that full amount. TSA PreCheck is useful for frequent travelers because it will allow them to go through domestic airport security much quicker. PreCheck travelers get to use lanes that are separate from other travelers. They also aren’t required to remove their computers from carry-on luggage, nor do they need to take off their belts, light jackets, or shoes when going through airport security.
It’s important to note that these U.S. Bank credit cards all offer to pay for Global Entry instead. Global Entry, which costs $100, has all the benefits of TSA PreCheck, but it also grants you expedited travel through U.S. Customs and Border Protection. The application process for Global Entry is a bit more of a hassle because it requires an interview, but the benefit of speeding through U.S. Customs screening is well worth it if you often travel internationally.
