The USAA credit card interest rate is 11.4% - 27.40% annually, depending on your creditworthiness, in most cases. Some USAA credit cards have interest rates as low as 8.4%, though. All USAA credit card APRs are listed as a range, and you receive a specific rate from within that range when you’re approved for an account.
USAA credit cards are designed specifically for active and former U.S. military servicemembers and their families. One of the unique benefits of a USAA credit card is a 4% APR for deployment or Permanent Change of Station (PCS). Eligible military personnel will get this low rate for up to 12 months. The 4% APR also applies to any account balance you have when you enter active duty until one year after you’re discharged.
Here are some things you should know about USAA credit card interest rates:
- All but five USAA credit cards have interest rates of 11.4% to 27.4% per year.
- USAA Preferred Cash Rewards and USAA Cashback Rewards Plus charge 13.4% - 27.4%.
- The USAA Rate Advantage Visa Platinum card charges 8.4% - 25.4%.
- USAA’s secured credit cards charge 11.4% - 21.4%.
- USAA uses the same credit card interest rate range for purchases, balance transfers and cash advances. But you could be assigned different rates from within those ranges for each type of transaction.
- There is no penalty, or default, APR on a USAA credit card.
It’s also good to know that interest on USAA credit cards compounds daily, which is standard for credit cards. In other words, every day, you owe interest both on your original balance and on any interest you’ve already accrued.
