The Visa credit card extended warranty adds one year to eligible items with a U.S. manufacturer warranty of three years or less. You’re covered for the original price of the item, up to $10,000 per claim and $50,000 per cardholder. If you purchased the item in full with a valid Visa Signature or Visa Infinite card, you are eligible for this benefit.
Some of the best cards in the Signature lineup include the Capital One Venture, Quicksilver, and Spark Cash Business cards; and the USAA Rewards and Preferred Cash Rewards Signature cards. The Chase Sapphire Reserve and The Ritz-Carlton Rewards Credit Card are among the top Infinite cards.
Basically, you’ll either go online or call 1 (800) 551-8472 to file your claim. You must file within 60 days from when your item fails, or your claim may be denied. Send receipts, warranty documentation, and an item description and serial number within 90 days.
A Benefit Administrator will decide to replace or repair your item. If they go the repair route, they will refer you to an authorized repair facility. They will pay the repair facility directly, or you can pay the facility for the repair and file a claim for reimbursement.
If all goes as planned, you’ll be reimbursed within five business days of receipt of all required documents. You’ll be reimbursed for no more than the original purchase price of the item. The reimbursement is less any shipping and handling fees for replaced or repaired items.
All is not covered under Visa’s Extended Warranty Protection, however. Items not covered include cars, boats, aircraft and other motorized vehicles. Real estate, resale or used items, and computer software are also not covered.
The Visa credit card extended warranty offers a second benefit known as Warranty Registration. You’ll register your item by sending the Benefit Administrator your sales receipt(s) and warranty information. When you file a claim, you won’t have to waste any time searching for those documents, as they will already be on file with the Benefit Administrator.
