To report a Wells Fargo credit card as lost or stolen online, log in to your account on Wells Fargo’s lost or stolen cards page. You’ll then be able to request a free replacement card, which you should receive in 5 to 12 calendar days. If you need your card sooner than that, you can call customer service to request rush delivery, which can be as soon as 24 hours but may have a fee associated with it. Once you receive your new card, you can activate it online or by calling the number on the sticker affixed to your replacement card. The replacement card will have a new account number, along with a new expiration date and security code.
You can also report a lost Wells Fargo credit card through the company’s mobile app, which uses the same login information as the website. Another option is to call customer service at 1-800-869-3557. You will have to enter your 16-digit card number to use the automated menu or speak to a customer service representative.
After you report a lost Wells Fargo credit card, Wells Fargo will make sure that the old card cannot be used for any fraudulent transactions. If someone already made unauthorized transactions before you reported the card as lost or stolen, you’re still protected. Wells Fargo offers $0 liability for unauthorized purchases, as does every major credit card issuer.
For added safety, you may also want to sign up for a free credit monitoring service.
