Yes, Erie uses telematics through YourTurn, a program that tracks a customer’s driving habits using the mobile app. Customers can sign-up for YourTurn and receive a reward of up to $10 every two weeks if they consistently practice safe driving.
What Erie Telematics Tracks
- Hard acceleration
- Hard braking
- Hard cornering
- Speeding
- Phone usage while driving
- Miles driven
In order to use YourTurn, drivers need to enroll in the program and install the mobile app, which will automatically log a drip when it detects driving activity. After each two week period, the rewards will be applied to your account, which you can use with several major companies or donate to charity. If you practice bad driving habits while using YourTurn, Erie will not raise your base premium. But you'll probably get fewer rewards, if any. Currently, YourTurn is only available in nine states.
