Indiana law requires car insurance companies to offer you $25,000 in uninsured motorist property damage (UMPD) coverage, but you can reject it. Uninsured motorist property damage insurance pays to repair or replace your car if you’re involved in an accident caused by an uninsured driver.
Even though it’s not mandatory, UMPD is a good investment for drivers who want to avoid paying out of pocket to fix their car after an accident caused by an uninsured or underinsured motorist. However, UMPD is similar to collision insurance, which pays to fix your car after any accident you’re in. So, if you already have collision coverage, you do not need UMPD.
