Drivers in Ohio can choose to purchase at least $25,000 in uninsured motorist property damage (UMPD) coverage per accident, but it is optional. Uninsured motorist property damage insurance pays to repair or replace your car if you’re involved in an accident caused by an uninsured driver.
Even though it’s not mandatory, UMPD is a good investment for drivers who want to avoid paying out of pocket to fix their car after an accident caused by an uninsured motorist. But UMPD is similar to collision insurance, which pays to fix your car after any accident you’re in. So, if you already have collision coverage, you do not need UMPD.
