Wells Fargo Platinum Credit Card rewards don’t exist. The Wells Fargo Platinum Card doesn’t offer points, miles or cash back. But that doesn’t mean it’s bad. It’s just not what Platinum was built for. Wells Fargo Platinum is all about 0% financing and no annual fees. No rewards is actually common for a 0% credit card such as Wells Fargo Platinum, and a low rate will save you a lot more than rewards if you plan to carry a balance from month to month. That’s especially true if you can pay off your balance within a year and a half because Wells Fargo Platinum offers 0% purchases and balance transfers for 18 months. And that’s an uncommonly long time, which perhaps explains why it requires good credit for approval.
So Wells Fargo Platinum isn’t a good credit card for rewards because it doesn’t offer any, at least not in the points, miles and cash back sense of the word. But it provides a number of other attractive perks that can be very rewarding in their own right. So it’s worth exploring these faux rewards in more detail if you have or will have credit card debt.
Here are the top Wells Fargo Platinum Credit Card “rewards”:
0% for 18 months on purchases & transfers: If you can be debt-free by then, you could escape without paying any (more) interest. There is a balance transfer fee of either $5 or 3% of the balance, whichever is greater, though. And after the first 18 months, it’s 5% of each new balance transfer
$0 annual fee: A fee is just interest in another form, so it’s best to avoid them when you have debt.
Travel Perks: This includes rental car insurance, roadside dispatch assistance and travel accident insurance.
Other Benefits: Wells Fargo Platinum is a Visa card, and you automatically get stuff like coverage for cell phone damage or theft as a result. For a full list of Visa benefits and restrictions, go here.
So to summarize, no, Wells Fargo Platinum Credit Card rewards are not available. But if you have the good or excellent credit needed to get approved, you will be rewarded with a 0% intro rate for the first 18 months. That’s one of the longest 0% intro periods on the market, making Platinum great for big purchases or balance transfers.
And just because Wells Fargo Platinum doesn’t offer rewards doesn’t mean you can’t earn any if you get it. Using Wells Fargo Platinum for debt and a rewards card for everyday spending is a great way to maximize your savings.
