Can my uncle's health insurance through his job drop him after being hospitalized?
He's been hospitalized since Oct '15. His wife isn't employed and has Medicaid. He's the sole provider and has been with his employer for almost 30 years. Are there other options? The hospital wants to end his treatment because he has no insurance.
This depends on several factors. 1) is he still employed? If so is the company still paying his health premium? He needs to call HR immediately to determine this. 2) IF they are not paying his insurance ask them why not. 3) The company may have put him on disability either short term or long term.
Somewhere, somplace the company and the insurance company should have sommunicated all of this to him. His wife needs to call the company HR - TODAY. Depending on the outcome I belieev that the next call will be to Medicaid for assistance.
